UPM China has received the Top Employers 2018 certification for the sixth consecutive year. In total, 76 companies based in China were recognised for their outstanding employment conditions by the Top Employer Institute.
China is a market where many companies are challenged with low employee retention. Certifications such as this can help employers position themselves in their quest to attract and retain the right people. For UPM, the certification is a symbol of the solid foundation in HR practices; however, an equally valuable outcome of participating in the certification process are the insights gained from the evaluation.
“The China Top Employer Institute certification offers us with third-party feedback on our HR practices and learnings from other companies that excel in these areas,” says Tuija Rinne, Vice President, HR, UPM Specialty Papers and UPM China.
“We continuously develop and benchmark our HR practices to offer our employees a meaningful and inspiring work environment. An enabling work environment as well as committed and loyal people are key to building a sustainable future and to driving forward UPM’s Biofore strategy.”
Crucial to the Top Employers process is that participating companies must complete a stringent research process in order to achieve the certification. UPM China’s employee offerings were evaluated according to criteria such as learning and development, leadership development, and culture. All answers have been independently audited, meaning this research has verified UPM China’s outstanding employee conditions.
“The validated research concluded that UPM China provides an outstanding employment environment and offers a wide range of creative initiatives, from secondary benefits and working conditions, to performance-management programmes that are well thought out and truly aligned with the culture of their company”, says Nicole Jin, Country Manager China for the Top Employers Institute.
