Scan the code and read more about the latest bioinnovations. Or decide whether the story behind the news is good, or then not! These and many other showpieces were premiered at the Bio Era launch in Helsinki on Monday, 5−6 June. The Bio Era Tour is a forest sector’s gift to 100 years old, independent Finland and its youth. In the core of the tour is the Bio Era Truck exhibition, where visitors can learn of the latest innovations made of renewable raw materials in an interactive manner and also to innovate themselves. UPM is a partner in the tour as part of its Biofore Share and Care programme, where one focus area is boosting bioinnovations. The tour will stop in 100 locations around Finland, the first being the launch at Helsinki Railway Square.
The event was opened by Kimmo Tiilikainen, the Minister for Housing, Energy and the Environment. Despite the cloudy weather, the music and the colorful tents were inviting a great number of eager visitors in the event hosted by UPM and other local bioeconomy experts. The UPM tent was crowded with people interested in our bioinnovations and the spruce seedlings we were handing out. We had lots of interesting discussions with the people who visited our tent, thanks for joining us!
The Bio Era Truck is produced by the Science Center Pilke of Metsähallitus and the Science Center Tietomaa. The main sponsors are the Finnish Forest Foundation and the Metsämiesten Säätiö Foundation. UPM is a partner in the tour as part of its Biofore Share and Care programme, where one focus area is boosting bioinnovations.
There are several UPM’s innovations on display in the Bio Era Truck exhibition, such as wood-based renewable UPM BioVerno diesel, thermoformable UPM Grada wood material, GrowDex hydrogel as well as UPM ProFi and UPM Formi biocomposites.
During the summer tour, UPM is present in the following locations: Kuusankoski, Rauma, Valkeakoski, Lappeenranta and Jyväskylä.
